Perol has a very authentic Mexican feel the moment you walk in. Walking into this restaurant you can smell all the delicious food being prepared. On our visit today we enjoyed a queso fundido with chorizo, which had one of the best cheese pulls. Our entree was a parrillada that feeds 2-3 people, we choose Tripitas 3/4 done (this is the way we always order our tripitas), pork buche, and pork carnitas. The parrillada comes with 2 side of your choice. We enjoyed the pastel de nuez con nieve de chongos, the ice cream taste like arroz con leche and the cake was soft and flavorful. We will definitely be back!

Have you ever had food so good it caused an existential crisis in your life? This is that good. Perol is the only place you should go to eat carnitas. My entire life I’ve been eating carnitas that I thought were the best thing to ever happen to pork butt, then after having the opportunity to try the carnitas at Perol, I understand that I have been lied to. Not just by friends and family, but by grandmas all across town. They’ve claimed to make carnitas the way they make them in the old country, well if that’s what they’re doing in the old country, then call me city mouse cause this. And that was the last thing we tried. Imagine starting off with an appetizer that is fried pork belly with guacamole? No that’s just the appetizer. Even before that, the first thing they bring to the table is an order of fresh made chicharrones, with two small pitchers of salsa, one red, one orange. I can’t say which is better, but we almost finished the red pitcher. We shared a plate that is a shareable options that lets you choose 3 meats and two sides. We got the Bistec, Pastor de chicken, and those amazing carnitas, with all the fixings, pickled red onion, lime, salsa that is the absolute bomb. The thing that is beautiful about the carnitas is they have a very slight flavor marinated into the meat. Like they may use a low salt brine to give it flavor. Just enough added to enhance the flavor of the meat, not to muddy it up with seasonings. The meats delicate flavor is transformed into something epic when you add all the toppings, a squeeze of lime all piled on top of a fresh made corn tortilla. Oh yeah! The pastor was also very, very good. Maybe the best? Yes the price is higher than most of the places you’ll find further north on Doniphan, but it is well worth it to have such an experience. Go try it for yourself. And notice, there’s no salt on the table, because the food is so good and fresh and balanced in flavor that you don’t need to ask for salt.

Finally got to try this place. This place was amazing! We ordered the pork belly and the Al Pastor tacos. Plenty of food and was less than 10 minutes order to table. The salsas that they have are fantastic and the pork belly was stupid good. Service was outstanding and the place was packed. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. My only complaint was the price of a Corona Michelada was 9.50 each. That’s ridiculous! But I will go there just to eat next time because the food is 100% worth it. Must try for yourself! Parking sucks but is expected with the quality of food and service.

Food was delicious. We got the platter with 3 - carnitas, pastor & bistec. Appetizer was the fundido which was really good. But of them all their corn tortillas taste so fresh and homemade. Service was great. Atmosphere - totally did not expect it. It was really nice and had a mellow but sophisticated atmosphere. Perfect lunch or date night spot.

El Perol continues to deliver not only delicious, authentic food but also exceptional service that keeps us coming back. The staff always goes the extra mile, and today was no different. After a tough championship game, my youngest was feeling down about the loss and her limited playing time. Melina noticed and took a moment to offer kind, encouraging words that truly lifted her spirits. That kind of personal touch means so much. Thank you, El Perol, for making our meals memorable in every way—from the flavors to the heartfelt care.
